VOiD designed a bespoke new mobile app – the first of its kind in the UK – to help engineers identify the correct replacement chain for any piece of equipment.
Donghua Ltd is part of the Hangzhou Donghua Chain Group of Companies, one of the world’s largest chain manufacturers with subsidiaries worldwide.
Its UK head office and warehouse is located in Wolverhampton, West Midlands.
Donghua approached VOiD to design a bespoke app to help engineers identify the right replacement chain for pieces of equipment.
Donghua was receiving many calls from engineers who needed help with this as the vast number of different chains available for agricultural, packaging, food processing and material handling machinery can make them difficult to recognise.
Donghua wanted a chain identification app that was simple and easy to use and would save users time. They wanted it to capture key information from engineers that the business could then use to identify different types of chain quickly and easily.
VOiD designed an innovative new app that works on both Apple and Android phones and tablets to help engineers identify the right replacement chain.
The app covers a wide range of chain types, including agricultural chain, conveyor chain, leaf chain and roller chain.
By selecting the chain type required, the app guides the user through a series of questions.
The data inputted by the user is then sent to the Donghua team, who easily identify the right replacement chain and respond to the app user within one hour.
The app also comes with a visual identification feature, which users can use to upload a photo of the chain they want to replace, making identification even quicker and more reliable.
VOiD created a user-friendly menu and tailored the user interface to present key information to engineers in a quick and easy-to-understand way.
Users contact details are saved for future use and the team at Donghua can send push notifications as part of their marketing efforts.
Updates to the app can be automatically downloaded to a user’s device as they become available.
The app is available natively on iOS and Android and is currently on the App Store and Google Play Store across Europe and the Middle East. It was built using the cross-platform technology React Native and uses APIs build in PHP (Laravel) to handle the enquiry system.
The app uses location services to make sure the users enquiry is sent to the correct Donghua location.
